PostSubject: Diarrheoa   Fri 11 Mar 2011, 18:10

Sorry i am not sure i have spelt that right.

Jerry and Georgie have diarrheoa. They have had it since Wednesday and it isnt the first time they have had an upset tummy.
Dont really want to take them to the vets unless it is absolutly necessary because it really stresses Georgie out to a point that she is sick! and because last time we did it cost us £50 to be told to give them tuna for 2 days and they didnt even supply the tuna lol!

Anyway
They havent had a change of food.
They are drinking and eating (although i must admit not as much).
They are up to date with there worming.

They seem ok Jerry maybe a bit quieter then usual but not sure if i am reading into it.

Any suggestions what we should do with them.

Sorry to hear Jerry and Georgie are not well.

I have a lot of experience with cats and diarrheoa.

Boil some white rice and skinless, boneless chicken. Blitz it in a food processor or blender with a little liquid from the chicken. Give them that and nothing else except water.

I have spent lots of ££ at vets and this is what they tell you to do. It always works for me. If they're not better in a day or 2 I would take them to the vet in case they get dehydrated.

Could they have gotten into some human food? Marple gets this when she manages to nick human food like milk from cereal bowl etc.

Marple and Blinx send

kisses

Mrs Marple has given you some great advice. I would also say cooked chicken. You shouldn't give cats too much tuna, so chicken would be better.

Hopefully they will be better in a few days, but like MrsM says, take them to the vet if they're not getting any better.

Dex and Sparky say they might pretend to be ill just to get the chicken giggle2

Deffo chicken and rice. Never heard of tuna being prescribed for a tummy upset though.

It sounds to me that it could be a tummy bug or something as they both have it. If it was just the one, it could be something that's been eaten from outside but as they are both poorly it sounds infectious.

I wouldn't leave them too long if it doesn't clear up soon. Maybe ring the vet if they are still like it on Monday, they might need a course of antibiotics by then.

Thank you for the advice. We have taken them off of the tuna and done what Mrs Marple has suggested. Georgie just looked at me as though to say what on earth is that! giggle1 .

Anyway there tummys seem to have settled down some and their poo is not as runny - still soft though (sorry if you are eating!).

We are going to leave them until Tuesday morning and if they do not improve anymore then arrange to take them to the vets.
